I am very pleased to announce that the Class of 1985 plans
to memorialize our classmate, LTC Chad Buehring '85, with the dedication of a
new parade ground bench, tree and inscribed granite ground stone at the
southwest corner of the parade ground, by the Cobra Helicopter and Law Barracks.
This is the last such naming opportunity around the parade ground and we are
proud to sponsor it in the name of our classmate, who gave the ultimate
sacrifice for his country while in the line of duty on October 26, 2003, in
Iraq.
The formal dedication of the parade ground memorial is
planned for the morning of November 12th, 2005, during our 20th Year Reunion
activities on campus. Please plan to be there.
**Any
monies donated toward this memorial or challenge in excess of the $10,000 will
be put toward the initial funding of a permanent Class of 1985 Scholarship Fund
to be fully funded in the coming years.

II. Trust Account for
Children’s Education Also Established
Additionally,
over a year ago, our classmates Jarrel Wigger, Billy Hayes, and
others were forward thinking and established a Buehring Family Trust,
specifically for the education of Chad's two children, Andrew and Nick. The
class is in possession of a copy of the official Trust account documents. The
forthcoming reunion letter will give details as to how you can support this
important endeavor as part of our 20th Year Reunion activities. You will be
able to make a separate contribution to the Educational Trust Fund with your
reunion registration packets (Gifts to this Trust account can not be made
through The Citadel Foundation). A special presentation of this Trust will also
be made to Chad's surviving wife Alicia and two children during the Campus
Memorial Dedication Ceremony.
